Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes your school different from other schools?

In today's society, school is an important party of our children's lives.  Parents are called to ensure that this time helps the child grow in the knowledge and wisdom of the Lord.  When parents delegate a part of this task to the school, that school's teaching should be in harmony with the basic religious beliefs of the home.  At Beacon Christian Schools we educate children for a Christian life, offering freedom to explore the works of God in creation, human culture and in history.  The goal is to enable students to live a full Christian life where God is served and honoured in all activities.  Not only do children receive an education here at Beacon but parents are adopted into a community which welcomes and cares for one another in Christian love.

What curriculum materials do you use?

Our curriculum resources come from a variety of sources.  Approximately 80% of our materials comes from the Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools

How does your curriculum compare with that of Ontario public or separate schools?

Beacon Christian Schools just celebrated it's 50th anniversary.  We praise God for the faithfulness he has shown to us in the last 50 years within the city of St. Catharines.

Does your school offer after hours child care?

Sonbeams child care is a wonderful program that is offered to parents who need care for their children.  Mrs. Stephanie Groot (ECE) provides a Christian, safe and nurturing child care in the environment of Beacon Christian Schools.

How are parents kept informed?

Our website is the most helpful resource in finding information on what is happening in and around the school.  A weekly update of the NewsRoom can be found under the Elementary Tab on the website.  Teacher's web pages are also excellent sites to keep up to date on the latest homework assignments and class activities of the day.  The Signal (a quarterly) publication will be given out, highlighting events, student works and principal reports.
